Nancy Nichols reported on Side Dish this morning that John Tesar has left Fishtail by David Burke in New York, and will be returning to Texas to open Tesar's Modern Steak and Sustainable Seafood in The Woodlands, Texas. Nancy quotes Tesar as saying that his move had nothing to do with New York Times restaurant critic Frank Bruni's one-star review of Fishtail. "I wasn't even employed at the restaurant when Bruni ate there," Tesar told her. Hmmm. How could he possibly know that? And it also seems unlikely that the New York Times sat on the review that long. Normally, when a chef is replaced, if a newspaper has a review in the works, they'll hold it until the critic can assess the new chef's cooking. Anyway, good work, Nancy. Here's the link. ROH ROH. Sounds if there is some material misrepresentation of fact here.
