What does a mad, wet hen look like? I think I know what one sounds like. Check out Nancy Nichols' livid entry on SideDish, where she excoriates chef David Gilbert and Lazare owner Russell Hayward for not telling her a parting of the ways was imminent. 'Seems she is maddest because the June issue of D magazine was going to press - with a review of the restaurant in it that both knew about. And then, according to her account, when she asked why Gilbert was leaving, she just got the runaround from both parties. Lazare is re-concepting. Or not re-concepting, depending on who you talk to, according to Nancy's report. Either way, this promises to be a sticky regrouping, given all the local producers Gilbert had lined up to supply his kitchen. And once again, Gilbert is without a restaurant. E-mail entry: |
