Get well-fed at El Centro's fundraiser

El Centro College's culinary arts division is one of Dallas' best-kept secrets, turning out some of the city's most promising chefs. But while the education there is first-rate, the facilities are perhaps a bit less than state-of-the-art (and as a former student, I know of what I speak).

This Sunday (March 1) from 4 to 7 p.m. you can help the college raise funds for its much-needed kitchen renovations while sampling food prepared by some of Dallas' best and brightest — many of whom are El Centro alums. There will be more than 20 tables for your grazing pleasure, featuring dishes from Sharon Hage (York Street), Liz and Jim Baron (Blue Mesa Grill), Dunia Borga (La Duni) and Nikky Phinyawatana (Asian Mint, The Mint), among many others, paired with wines and beers.

Admission is $40 per person; proceeds benefit the Food & Hospitality Institute of El Centro College. The event will be held at the college's downtown campus at 801 Main St. For more information, call 214-860-2716 or 214-358-4971.
