Chick is still finalizing the details, but the overall concept is "California roadhouse with a farm-fresh mentality." Expect a front herb garden, lots of indoor/outdoor spaces and a back lounge overseen by DJ-hipster Parker Lawson. And what about that name? Chick says that it's low-key and all-American, he also liked the "ambiguity" of it. Keeping up with the Joneses, indeed. Donald Chick friends with Ms. Hage? Truly, an odd couple -- if not completely unbelieveable. I see no parallels between them, except that Chick wants the kind of credibility for his establishments that announcing his "friendship" with Ms. Hage might imply. He's got the DJ-hipster thing down, now maybe he's hoping with this press release he'll earn some premature food credibility.
Henderson Ave really has some great things going on. If you haven't been over there lately (6 monts or so), you should really go check it out.
By far, it's my favorite part of Dallas, along with the Knox side.
