Red India Bistro is a new Indian-Indo-Chinese restaurant on Belt Line in Addison. Owner Pramod Prodduturi says the menu is about half and half favorites, such as tikka dishes and vindaloo, and Indo-Chinese. "It's Chinese-style cooking," he says, "working with a touch of Indian spices." Indo-Chinese dishes include Spicy Sichuan chicken, chop suey and Blazing Hakka Noodles, similar to lo mein. The Web site is www.redindiabistro.com, and while it remains under construction, you can still check a lot out. On the lounge side, mixed drinks include the Lodka (Belvedere vodka and lychee) and Keraltini (Absolut vodka, coconut water, garnished with coconut shavings and saffron). It's at 4950 Belt Line, south side of the street, just west of the tollway. Cava is little more mysterious. It's a new restaurant at Preston and Royal, in southwest corner where Le Rendezvous used to be. There's no listing or Web site, so that's all I know. But I'll make it by soon - or if you've been, tell us about it. E-mail entry: |

Kim, I ran over to Red India for lunch - found a gem in the Lamb Kebob Rolls. I posted some pics and ruminations on hardcore curry here:

Four of us fell into Cava Saturday night. I think we were very pleased as there was not a bite left on anyone's plate. It is owned and run by a lovely young couple. He is from Barcelona and she is from Columbia. The food is somewhat Spanish in nature but also some French and even Mexican influences. We thought the menu a little odd, Spanish tortilla and taco's? He does not want a label. The space was very well done, European Country. So clean it sparkeled. They do not have their permit so bring your own wine until further notice. One entre, three perfectly cooked lamb chops with demiglaze, a large helping of mashed p's perfectly grilled veg's. Ideal amount of food. $19.00
A friend recommended this new Preston Royal restaurant after eating there last night. So we tried Cava tonight, only to find our friend was back for the second night in a row. The food was as described, eclectic. It was also excellent. We are looking forward to trying their weekend brunch. In a neighborhood that epitomizes loyal customers, this will be a hit. And if you forget to bring your own bottle of wine (as we did), there is likely a neighbor willing to share!
