According to Stephanie Davis, director of brand communications for the Wolfgang Puck Fine Dining Group, the company received 15,000 submissions over a two-week period for the naming contest, which was announced on the Eats blog in October. Seven people submitted the name Five-Sixty: Jason Aboujeib of Dallas, Brandi Balfour of Richardson, Jeff Carrington of Dallas, Katie Gilkinson Chaumont of Dallas, Steve Heaser of Dallas, William Huckin of Dallas and Erica Janczak of Keller. They each will receive the big prize: One free dinner at Five-Sixty per month for a year, beginning in February after the restaurant opens, plus an invitation to the grand opening in late January, a chance to meet and greet Wolfgang Puck as well as autographed books and cookware. Three other contestants submitted the word's "five-sixty" as part of the restaurant's potential name. They will receive invites to the opening bash. Details are still emerging on the specifics of the food that will be served in the 200-seat restaurant, which begins dinner service in late January. The press release reveals only that Five-Sixty will serve Mr. Puck's "signature Asian-influenced cuisine." Congrats to the winners. Write in and tell us about your gratis meals. E-mail entry: |

I'm still laughing about the guy that suggested Cesar Chavez.
So, will the food be edible? I have never heard anything good about the quality of that restaurant. Then again, most touristy places have bad food.
having eaten at many of Mr. Puck's places, I am ALWAY impressed with his food. We are blessed to have so many celebrety chefs in Dallas, there are few places that can say that; New York, Las Vegas, San Fran, but Dallas is one of those unusual no coastal city's that has really good food. So, welcome Wolfgang, I look forward to being a regular customer.
I've eaten at a few of Puck's restaurants in Vegas & LA, always sensational....add that to the unbeliveable spot and view and this is going to be the hottest new place in Dallas! So looking forward to the launch!
Steve,
It's a new restaurant. What the heck are you talking about?
I am so disappointed that this is a Puck restaurant. At least we have wonderful FAMILY memories of going to Antares on Thanksgiving and enjoying the exquisite buffets - Asian influenced cuisine is not for everyone, but then, that would be his point, wouldn't it? The Ball has always belonged to Dallas, in my opinion, now it's gone the way of the elite and the rich guys. At least we have our memories.
(If his frozen stuff is anything like what he will serve, not thanks.)
Name it after Billionaire Carlos Slim. He is Latino.
Antares was bad and overpriced... the only good thing they had was the desert that was shaped like Reunion Tower
Actually, that's a pretty unimaginative and forgettable name.
You'll get a 360 degree view up at the new 560!!
Great name...great location...great food...look forward to tasting Wolfgang's culinary in Dallas!
@disappointed- are you for real? Antares? what a dump! I'm so happy to now have a great reason to take my friends that visit Dallas to the ball!!! oh yeah and you are comparing a 4 star restaurant to his frozen spin off? please.
and @ Steve- What?!?! have you ever eaten at one of his restaurants? i'd have to say the Lobster BLT in Vegas, still leaves me dreaming for more, and the Spago in BHills was an unforgettable taste sensation.
No question, this new Wolfgang Puck restaurant will become a permanent fixture as a go to, "special occasion" dining destination.
Welcome to Dallas, Wolf. And, the best of luck. Looking forward to enjoying your wonderful, innovative cuisine without involving an airplane to get me there.
"Give me Dean Fearing's or give me death!"
Getting to and fro' the hidious tower has always been a nightmare -- trust me, I like few of you grew up here. The entrance is AWFUL, the parking is worse, and it is AT BEST a destination spot. Go to my fav hangout, and you can WALK up or down McKinney and actually see/eat&drink the rest of Dallas without getting shot at.
The best dessert I've ever had was at his restaurant Postrio in Vegas - the passionfruit crepes!
Love Puck. Bored by the name.
Very Creative name, so unique 10 people thought of it.
Puck sold out years ago. Will he even be anywhere near this restaurant other than what's printed on the sign? I doubt it.
Once I tried an off-the-shelf "self-warming espresso-in-a-can" concoction that he put his name on. It resembled a large coke can that you turned upside down, jiggled a little, then popped the top. It would then begin warming the "espresso" beverage contents inside. It was hideous - the worst "espresso in a can" I've ever tasted (have I ever tasted hot espresso in a can before? I don't think so). I couldn't believe he put his face/name on this product. It made no sense. I wonder what he was paid to have them slap his name and face on it?
A lot, no doubt.
An unfortunate name...meaningless and highly forgetable. Obviously they didn't run a focus group study. RH
Yes, Poor name. Mine was more closely associated with double meanings.
Birds Nest by WP.
Birds Nest- The tower looks like one, One of the most exotic Asian dish and could be part of the menu as a feature Asian item. What more do you want?

my baby girl will b a waitress there. good for her.
I used to love WP's restaraunts, but I ate at the one in Orlando on both of my recent visits. The first time was bad; call me a fool for giving it another chance, but the second time was HORRIBLE. I could rant forever about our experience. Everything was so terrible there our second-go-around, I'm not sure I'll even give this Five-Sixty a chance. I can go elsewhere for good, reasonably priced Asian food. And, if I want to go out of my way to admire the view, I'll just visit the observation deak instead. Thanks, but no thanks.
Just called to make reservations. Was told not appropriate dining for children.
birds nest ??? sounds like an off shoot of the cracker barrell . 560 has class . great name congrats to the winners .
