Brunch at Hugo's »
I was recently taken on a road trip for the "best burger ever" and landed in Crowley, Texas at a little joint called Nicky D's. Once I got over my disorientation, I enjoyed one one of the best straight-forward burgers I've had in a long time. We're talking fresh beef patties (the kind you can tell were formed by hand), crisp pickles and a perfectly buttered and toasted bun. The thick-cut fries were crisp and well-seasoned. Nicky D's is inside a former convenience store, but I think that adds to its humble appeal. If you're looking for the restroom inside, though, don't. You'll find old-school outhouses in back. (Just giving daintier readers a heads up.) Nicky D's, 1605 FM 1187, Crowley, TX, 817-297-0333 Low-quality iPhone photos by cwynn |
