Local mom dishes on family friendly restaurants

Do you know of or are you looking for a good family restaurant? Eats blog fan Grace Pecson, M.D. of Parker, who is always on the hunt for restaurants she can enjoy with her kids, started childsplate.com this month.

This little jewel of a website shares the daily quest of the Phipps family (Dr. Pecson's married name) for new and rewarding dining experiences with her hubby, 4-year-old Mina and 1 year-old Benjamin, with the goal of blogging about a different restaurant every day for a year.

Sample listing: "Today was Mina's first day of school! So...we decided we would take her to her favorite Italian restaurant, Compari's. Why, you ask, is this her favorite restaurant? Because you can draw on the table, of course."

Check it out, and tell us if you have any local family friendly restaurants to recommend for the Phipps family!

Just about every restaurant I go to has a bunch of kids crawling around. I wish there were a guide to kid free eating establishments.

JG - That only seems to be a problem in the burbs or in Park Cities prior to the 8:00 hour.

I agree with JG.If anyone knows of a blog for restaurants that are not so kid friendly I'd be interested in knowing about it.I have practically quit going to my fav mexican food restaurant because of the out of control squealing /screaming kid situation.

Mi Cocina's Preston/Forest has a back bar that is kid-free.

The blog is awesome......apparantly if you dont have kids you have time to leave dumb disparaging remarks.........and why are you surfing kid frindly stories??

Anyhoooooo....the site is great with cool info including fav foods and service from a normal persons perspective.....little scared of the ogre character!!

Campari's food and staff is exceptional too. My kids are grown so when I'm in a restaurant that may be overflowing with energy I just remind myself that we are done and we go home and do the "happy no four year olds" dance.

Read through the blog of restaurants and it seems she makes her decisions given only one try at a place and just a handful of dishes without really exploring the menu fully. I understand kids might not like some dishes but when you only try just a few dishes you might not give the restaurant a fair chance. To make a write up given on those dishes and your only visit to the restaurant might be a bit harsh. Some resturants even the best have bad days. I commend her for the effort because I understand the strain of dining with kids, but sometimes you have to think of those on the other side of the table before you write up a review.
