The best classic cheeseburger by far is at a little cafe in Carrollton called Cafe Matteson. Juicy and great Also, on Mondays there half price.
A must try!

Any list of the best burgers in the Metroplex that doesn't include Kincaid's in Ft. Worth is either bogus or reflects the lazyness of the food critics, who can't seem to find a way to make it out of Dallas to find a place to review.

The Mercury Grill has a killer burger. The fries are fantastic too!

I love burgers and am partial to First and Ten. I love that Snuffer burger too. I hear Wingfields is the bomb. I went to Twisted Root and got a regular cheese burger. I was a little diapointed. The meat was good, the bun was great, the fixins were terrible. One tiny unripe tomatoe slice, two little pickle slices, one small ring of an onion, and a piece of lettuce. That is uncool and will not cut the mustard.

Hey Kevin --
If you read the list, you'll see that there are two Fort Worth places given nods. It doesn't mean that I didn't go to Kincaid's, it mean that I don't happen to agree with you on this one. I think Fred's and the Love Shack make better burgers than Kincaid's.

Bill,
Your last comment is actually a tease of what I really want to hear. I don't mind so much that you disagree w/ me. What I want to hear, especially in the case of revered burgers such as Kincaid's, is why? Why not Kincaide's. You obviously couldn't do that for all, but for the excluded yet much beloved, I would enjoy reading why you excluded them. Kincaid's, Hole-in-the-Wall, Herd's (in Jacksboro) to name a few.

Burger Island (locations on Northwest Highway in Garland, Town East Blvd. in Mesquite, and now in Sachse on Hwy. 78) has fantastic burgers. The meat is hand-pressed and on perfectly toasted buns. The accompaniments are also superb from the seasoned fries to Texas toothpicks, and fried pickles. Another favorite is The Dairyette on Ferguson Road. It is an old drive up (a few tables and counter inside)built back in the '50's with mouthwatering burgers.

Jake's is the best burgers in the Metroplex. We went to Skillman & Abrams to eat. Luckily, now there is one in Addison. Delicious, fresh and always good.
Snuffers is in the running for second. It is a little too greasey.

A best burgers in DFW list that does not include one of the following: The Old Monk, The Lakewood Landing and Lee Harvey's. Serious, or are we just trying to be funny? Since I can't really comment on Fort Worth selections, The Angry Dog is the ONLY selection on the list that I agree with. I would also like to spread some love for The Village Burger Bar, but that may have more to do with having Thomas Kemper on tap.

Well, I ate at the Angry Dog a little over a year ago because of its rating as the Best Burger. The only point I agree with is that you need two hands to eat it. Not that it was that big, but it was exceptionally greasy. Without two hands it would just fall apart. Also I ordered medium well and it came out RED. So much for the Angry Dog and your ratings.

The best 'Burger' in Dallas is at THE FILLING STATION on Preston Rd. north of Frankford. It is a reincarnation of the original and the burgers are about the same. EXCEPTIONAL...

Don't go to Mooyah! The burgers are dry and tastless and the "extras" are pre-made. My comapanion and I are the only customers and they got both or orders wrong and overcooked the fries!

I am with Randy - Mooyahs is no bueno.
I love Jake's burgers and great fries. For the Lake Highlands crowd Highland's Cafe has a good burger but the fries need help - frozen. Houston's has a very good burger. I agree the Lakewood Landing has a very good burger also.
I love burgers but eat them less often as I did in my youth - so I want the best.

Wanted to try some of the top picks. We went to the Twisted Root - I don't think I will be going back. Nothing special and the burger was not cooked too rare. The beef pattie had no flavor. The fries were okay.
Went back to Highland's Cafe - great burger - grilled kaiser roll, delicious beef pattie topped with cheddar cheese, green leaf lettuce - not that chopped iceburg (yuck) it was good.
