Noka. NorthPark. Fall 2008.

noka1.jpg Yes, it's true.

The Dallas-based luxury chocolate maker will debut a new showroom this October at NorthPark Center. Look for the shop in the former Dr Delphinium space right outside of Neiman Marcus (which also carries Noka's products in its stores).

Seems like only yesterday --- but was more like four years ago --- that founders Noah Houghton and Katrina Merrem launched their debut shop in Plano. Since then, Noka has relocated to a flagship boutique at Victory Park, added a second one in Japan and now has a third location under construction in Honolulu. The NorthPark space will bring their retail count to four.

Another sign of the times? We hear Houghton has been considering a Smart Car to replace Noka's signature company Hummer.

Review online extra: Brunch at Screen Door

I ran out of room in the print version of this week's Screen Door review to properly address Sunday brunch, which is a worthwhile - if slightly pricy - aspect of the restaurant to experience.

Though you can also order a la carte, brunch is set up as a $32 three-course prix fixe menu. (The restaurant's web site has a slightly out-of-date version of the menu here.) Supplemented with banana-nut muffins and corn bread muffins slathered with smoked apple butter, you can easily eat your way into the need for an afternoon nap.
