Good ol' well-connected TG beat me to this breaking news, but I, too, received phone calls earlier today informing me that BLT Steak is closing after tonight, though no one connected with the restaurant wants to go publicly on-record about it. It's a shame. Some of the menu items (lobster Cobb, American Wagyu top cap steak) were fabulous. That weird, hidden location off the Tollway couldn't have helped business. UPDATE: Yep, it's official. Here's the Monday, June 9 press release from the company about the restaurant's closing: Despite every effort possible and accolades from local food critics in the Dallas market, BLT Steak closed its doors after dinner service on Friday, June 6. BLT Steak was located in the Village on the Green development at 5301 Alpha Road. "We are perplexed by the lack of reception in the Dallas market," states Managing Partner Jimmy Haber. "Especially in light of our success in New York City, Washington DC, Puerto Rico and Los Angeles" All future media inquiries should be directed to Bullfrog & Baum, the national agency of record for BLT Restaurant Group. |

Seems to be a pattern here: Some big name steakhouses see how well the genre does in Dallas and think they can muscle in on the locals. Et tu, Smith and Wollensky?

Not a surprise. We have been going since they opened and while the food was excellent the front of the house and the service was just awful. Hardly anyone was gracious or welcoming. They never got reservation or table requests right. Never treated regulars well (and there were some of us up in the hinterlands) or brought you a drink once in a blue moon. Those of us who live & work near BLT will miss it but can't say we are surprised.

I have to agree that I am not surprised. The food was fine, but nothing remarkable (except for the bread thing, which was delightful). The room looked like a Westin dining room and nothing about the experience made it worth the trip, when there are better and more special choices in town.

Awful location. Also NY based restaurant chains have a hard time competing against our locals (Nonna vs. Bice, Bob's vs. BLT). You would think they would do a little market research before entering the market

It was a beautiful restaurant but BLT was trying to pass off choice fare as prime and the food just didn't measure up. We went there on a Saturday night about 2 months ago at 8pm and it was about 1/3 full.
