Last week I asked about butcher shops. This week, Eats reader Jeff wrote with this question: "Do you know of a fish market or any market that sells octopus? I have seen squid for sale in Whole Foods but I'm looking for octopus. If you know of a place, please let me know. Thanks for your help." Speaking of butcher shops, I followed the majority advice from the butcher shop post and hoofed it to Rudolph's in Deep Ellum for a three-pound center-cut pork roast. I brined it, stuffed it with Prosciutto di San Daniele, slathered it with olive oil and herbs, roasted it and served it with a bourbon-mustard sauce. Lots of happy comments about the quality of the meat. I'll definitely be back to Rudolph's. |

I was shopping today at the new H-Mart Korean supermarket at the intersection of I-35 and the Bush Turnpike in Carrollton. They had a special of fresh baby octopus, displayed on ice, for $2.99 a pound and darned if it didn't look glisteningly fresh.

I saw some at the seafood counter at the new Market Street in Allen. While I haven't tried it, all of the seafood we have gotten there has been extremely fresh and tasty!

I just happened to buy an octopus today at the opening of El Rancho at Marsh and Walnut Hill. The creature looked and smelled fresh and I'm planning on grilling it tomorrow.
