Evidently, there are restaurateurs experimenting with the concept of Pay What You Can restaurants . They've popped up in Seattle and Salt Lake City as well as Melbourne, Australia and Vienna, Austria. Some people eat for free, others pay more -- it's all about trust and people taking care of each other. So, can Dallas be far behind? Yes, well, probably...Seriously, if you've heard about anything like this here, we'd love to know... |

Closest thing I have heard of in Dallas is the "honor system" at the Aw Shucks and Big Shucks seafood eateries. No check is brought to you; you just tell the cashier what you ordered at the counter after you eat, and you put a tip in the jar if you want to.
Not sure we will see the "Pay What You Can" concept here. Dallas is more of an "In God We Trust; All Others Pay Cash" kinda town.

Yeah, kinda suspected that. Though it's nice to know that there's at least one chain with the honor system!

Dallas loves money too much for this sort of thing.

I am actualy suprised that this would work anywhere in America. Id be interested to hear if the Seattle or Salt Lake resutrants are succesful or if they collapse.
