Three cheers for Bill Addison's review of La Condesa at Victory Park! Our group had the benefit of not being on a review meal, so we were able to get the check and leave. The drinks, service, and appetizers were bad enough that we didn't want to go on suffering through the main course.

You can get a better meal for less at La Condesa on Maple.

I completely agree with the review for La Condesa. The only positive thing I can say for the resturant is the prices are fair. In my experience I had the carnitas and found them very very dry and almost hard to eat. The one saving grace for bad mexican food is a good margartia...and La Condesa doesnt offer that either.

Mignon is a great escape for those of us forced to live north of 635. I love the steak frites and the service has always been great - even when we bring our 2 awful children in. I do wish they would bring back the beignets with chocolate and cherries from a couple of years ago. And they used to have a salad with a poached egg on it that was delicious.

PacoTaco: Or, as those of us who have lived here a while refer to it, the REAL La Condesa!

Failures like La Condesa make me wonder how places like Buster's Burritos didn't survive.

I think this place is nominated for a James Beard award...in the restaurant design category. Anyone know?

Regardless, I have eaten there and had a similar experience to the reviewer's. Nearly alone on a weeknight, my lady and I had a friendly, but clueless server literally sit at out table while explaining the menu. The bone rattling house music was corrected, thankfully, by someone about half-way through our meal. The food was alright, but we aren't critical. The topper came when we were served our entrees after which the busboy began stacking and moving every chair around us in preparation for closing. I know we were the only ones there, but I've never felt less welcome in my life. I hope these guys are bracing for a rough summer with no AAC sports, rising food costs, and lackluster reviews. I wish them luck because I never want anyone to fail, but they better do something fast.

I fail to understand why Del Friscos receives the praise it does. The service is lousy.

Case in point: I take several key business executives to DF one night for dinner. One asked that in addition to the shrimp appetizers he would like some shrimp grilled. The waiter's response was "No, we can't grill the shrimp." I asked "You have a grill correct? You have shrimp correct? Then grill some shrimp." To no avail.

Then I made the HUGE mistake of going to DF for New Year's Eve. My reservations were for 8:00pm. We did not get seated until 10:00pm. The place was so crowded I'm sure the Fire Marshall would have shut them down had they seen the overcrowding.

I will never dine here again.
