Zodiac Greek Grill closing on Main Street

Metro blog wrangler Steve Harris was distressed to find out that a downtown lunch institution will soon be gone:

The Zodiac Greek Grill has been dishing it out on Main Street for 17 years, but now the owner says he's having to look elsewhere because of building renovations.

The little Greek eatery may be gone as soon as next week. And that's sad. As Steve says so eloquently:

Where else can you get roasted chicken, chunk potatoes, Greek salad, pita bread, a large spoonful of garlic sauce and iced tea for $7.04?

This will be a loss. This place does superb inexpensive Greek, even if the restaurant looks like something out of a "Heidi" movie. Steve, keep us posted on what the couple does next.

There's another Greek eatery downtown, a few blocks from there at the corner of Akard and Elm. It's called the Galilee Grill. I think it's been open less than a year. They've got a pretty extensive lunch buffet... I got takeout on a Saturday afternoon there once and the food was fine.

I concur on the Galilee. The food is very good, and a great value for $7.99 for all you can eat at lunch. It is one of the best lunch places downtown.

I am very sad to see Zodiac Greek Grill closing. The last day will be Friday, April 11. They have not found another location yet.

I agree with the posts that Food from Galilee is good.

Galilee Grill is amazing! The food is excellent! They have great homestyle Mediterranean cooking on an all you can eat buffet for only $6.99! I seriously think you should check it out.
