I thought the review of Sevy's was spot on. It doesn't try to push the envelope very much, but for what it does try to do, i.e., serve very good food in an attractive atmosphere with good service, it usually hits the bulls-eye. But given the quality of the food and decor (and in my experience, service) wouldn't it be fair to say that Sevy's meets the DMN's 4-star standard? It "offer[s] some of the best dining in the area... slightly more casual [than 5-star], and you don't have to sock away quite as many bucks to fund the experience." That's what I think anyway.

Carribbean Cafe was rated as 2-stars....yet it still made it as a Guide Pick?!??!? I'll now question the reliability of your "Pick" system which I previously regarded as the best of the litter. Very disappointing.

Yep, Caribbean Cafe is two stars and it is a Guide Pick. It's a sweet little place that does some things great and others, to my taste, not was well. But we don't have much Cuban in this city and for folks longing for or curious about it, it merits checking out. So I felt like it deserved the designation.
Two stars for a restaurant with modest ambitions does not equal damnation. If you find it curious that a two-star restaurant received a Guide Pick designation, hopefully reading the review will offer clues ...
