Bengal Coast is one of my favorite new restaurants and has menu offerings that Dallas has been sorely lacking. Lots of people wouldn't venture into a Thai or Indian restaurant because they don't know what to order. Bengal Coast takes some of the best dishes from those cuisines for its menu. The food is everything you said it is -- great! You didn't mention the decor which I think is very cool and it definitely looks more upscale like a PF Chang's than a Pei Wei. Nice patio. I am addicted to the tuna boats!

As some one born near the real Bengal Coast in India, and fairly familiar with Thai, Malay and Indonesian cuisine, I really appreciate the novel renditions on the menu - check out my detailed review at http://foodbuddy.blogspot.com/2008/02/bengal-coast-in-dallas-nouvelle-pan.html

I am addicted to Bengal Coast food. I am a regular since it opened. The food and service are warm and friendly. Unpretentious. At first I was a bit sceptical but I am not disspoointed that I gave it a shot. Great stuff.

If it gets John-Q public to better appreciate 'Bengal Coast' type ethnic foods, I'm all for it.
Pei Wei comparisons are harsh: 'average' chinese food in the US is already tame and hidious and well known, that chain only adds to the mess. This restaurant is starting from a cleaner slate.
I find it tame and lame, but friends I took who've never been enjoyed it thoroughly and go regularly now. Bravo!

I don't live in the city ... but I visit a lot. I've been hard pressed to find an Asian-influenced place that didn't intimidate the heck out of me. Ate at Bengal Coast Friday before the Chris Botti show and fell in love with the place, the people and the great food ... I will be back.
