Rhubarb makes only rare, seasonal appearances in our area, and my guess is there are lots of displaced Northerners for whom this is comfort food. If that includes you, make your way to Tom Spicer's 1410 Market. His latest e-blast says he's got rhubarb in from Oregon. He says this shipment of the tart, crimson vegetable isn't stringy, has a buttery texture and was grown organically. He also has other items grown closer to home: lettuces, herbs, watercress. His store is at 1410 Fitzhugh, a few doors away from Jimmy's Food Store at Bryan and Fitzhugh. |
