buffalo gap event.jpgMake plans now to attend the Buffalo Gap Wine & Food Summit April 18-20. Tom Perini hosts the extravaganza each year at his ranch, with many events taking place outside under the West Texas sky. (Buffalo Gap is southwest of Abilene.) It's a unique setting where you can rub elbows (or scoot boots) with some of Texas' most acclaimed chefs and winemakers and enjoy great food, wine and company.

Most of the events take place on Saturday (April 19), including:

  • A multi-course luncheon with Dallas' Stephan Pyles. $150.

  • Texas vs. the World Wine Tasting, with wine writer Wes Marshall. It's a blind tasting with wines from Texas, California, Australia and France, and winemakers and winery reps will be on hand. $50

  • Cowboys, Cuisine & Cabernet, the big dinner and dance Saturday night where all the chefs attending, including Perini, Pyles, Grady Spears, and Austin chef Lou Lambert, will man buffet stations and serve specially paired wines. $125

For attendees who get a patron pass to all events ($425), there's also a discussion Friday night with the chefs and Paula Lambert on Southern comforts, when Tom brings out the cigars and Cognac. Plus, there's a Sunday (April 20) farewell brunch at the Perini Ranch Steakhouse.

This is one of the ultimate Texas foodie events, and tickets go fast. Click here for details and instructions for downloading a registration form. More pics from former years, too.
