...and that's very sad for all the employees who reportedly arrived for work yesterday morning, only to find the door locked. The Lakewood and Preston Center locations of the chain also closed recently. But there's some encouraging East Dallas eatery news over on PegasusNews.com. T.G. says that the vacated Carrabba's in Lakewood Shopping Center will soon become the new home of Ali Baba, which is relocating from Lower Greenville. A manager from Ali Baba's Richardson branch is quoted: "We're hoping to have the Lakewood location open by April -- Greenville Avenue isn't what it used to be." Agree? Disagree? |

Carrabba's was overpriced and sucked anyway it won't be missed. Luigi's is where it's at.

I will follow Ali Baba's wherever it goes. Carrabba's, however, I can take it or leave it.

We never tried Carraba's and I always felt they were a little out of place in Lakewood. I'm happy to see that Ali Baba is staying put in East Dallas. We've been eating there since college (just turned 40) and I'm happy to see they've done nothing but grow their consistently good, well-priced middle eastern fare (their lunchtime crowd in Irving is amazing). I say YAY.

How do you close and not tell your employees?

I have it from a reliable source that the restaurant was closed in the middle of service Saturday night. Plates were removed mid-meal and patrons asked to leave. Really too bad, the food was always good.
