On Saturday, March 29, Jim Henry will bring samples of his all-Texas-made olive oil to Flavors From Afar, in Snider Plaza. His Texas Olive Co.'s "green gold" oil is made in Carizzo from Spanish-style Arbequine olives. Half-liter bottles cost $20, and free tasting sessions will happen on the hour from noon to 4 p.m. that day. (Advance tastings also are available.) Not only that: Mr. Henry's bringing some olive trees to sell, too, with advice on taking them home and planting them. Trees are $24.99 each and can be reserved in advance by calling the store at 214-696-2327. Flavors From Afar is at 6712 Snider Plaza in University Park, near SMU. See their website, www.flavorsfromafar.com, for more information on the store. |
