KRLD Restaurant Week's first week ended yesterday, but some restaurants are extending their participation until Aug. 26 or Sep. 22. Last week, many diners (and some restaurant staffers) shared their experiences with us. Did you dine out this weekend? Have a reservation for this week? Let us know how it goes. Dined at Pappas Bros. on Saturday night. Great as always! Service was wonderful. We had four Central Market coupons for the fourth course, which was lobster bisque. I don't eat any seafood, and our waiter said he'd ask the chef what he could do. I ended up getting an extra side for my steak (creamed spinach) that was delicious! The other three in my party enjoyed the bisque.

Here's my Restaurant Week experience from Saturday night. Got a call the day before confirming my reservation at Riccardi's in the Quadrangle. Arrived at 8:30; directed to bar; waited an hour and 15 minutes; reassured several times that we were 5 minutes away from seating; finally left for another restaurant that was not part of Restaurant Week! Learned a lesson about Riccardi's.

ROUGE: Three of us dined at Rouge on Saturday night for RW. Nice atmosphere but really bad service. One member of our group ordered the wine pairing and had to ask for her wine with each course except the last one where the waiter finally remembered. Food was ok but came out really slowly. The restaurant was not totally packed but our waiter seemed to be handling all the tables with other waiters not doing much. Our waiter was stressed and seemed to be yelling at another waiter at one point. Our waiter could not handle all the tables and people were visibly unhappy. Also they only served bottled iced tea...you are in Texas...you need brewed tea of some sort. We do not want to keep buying bottles of Republic of Tea for refills.

OCEANAIRE: We (a party of four) dined at OCEANAIRE for Restaurant Week. The waitress immediately tried to increase our order, and asked if she could select the one glass of wine ordered. The Clam Chowder was cold and glutinous, the stuffed Haddock was inedible.and the dessert, key Lime pie was "Mrs. Smith's." The wine chosen by the waitress was $18. a glass ,and she had the nerve to argue with two of us over the awful haddock, when they complained. Unfortunately, we tipped well, but will never return-at any price.
